June 8th, 2008: In the current era of Pakistani media which can be seen across the United States, it has come to our attention that many individuals are placing advertisement claiming to be umbrella organizations of Pakistani American community or creating umbrella organization, and claiming they represent the Pakistani-American community.

PAKPAC is sending this information out to clarify that we are not a part of any umbrella organization or group and there is no entity that speaks on our behalf.

It is critical for people to recognize that in order to create umbrella organizations there needs to be true coordinated efforts with unity of purpose and clear understanding. The work at the organizational level requires creating grass root support. If individuals use inaccurate claims of being umbrellas they affect their own credibility.
