The Pakistani American Public Affairs
Committee (PAKPAC) joins the Pakistani American community to salute
the efforts of Dr. Mohammed Suleiman for his ongoing continued support
to humanity.
Dr. Suleiman Past President of Association of
Pakistani physicians of North America (APPNA) was introduced to the
American public when during the recent Katrina disaster in New
Orleans, he provided non stop support in some of the most difficult
times to his patients. It was after 5 days of service, when he
continued to provide life saving treatment to his patients, when he
and his over 125 patients were airlifted to a safer place. He
continued to take care of patients in Baton Rouge while many other
people rested. Dr. Suleiman later returned to New Orleans and had
actively participated in the rehabilitation of his town.
On October 8th the northern parts of Pakistan
were severely destroyed by a 7.6 magnitude earthquake. At this time
when there are over 79,000 people believed dead and over 3 million
without shelter in the cold weather with what is believed to be the
worst disaster of the last few decades, surpassing Tsunami of 2004,
Dr. Suleiman is responding to his call for duty and is joining many
other physicians to go voluntarily help support the victims of this
earthquake. Dr. Suleiman said that, “it is the duty of all people to
help their fellow humans, no matter where they are” and he feels that
now at this critical juncture, we as Americans do whatever it takes to
help the thousands who are at risk of dying. He urged all to donate
urgently to the different agencies involved in rescuing the people.
Dr. Suleiman serves as PAKPAC Board of
director and is being applauded by other board members for his
dedication. President of PAKPAC Dr. Shah and President elect, Dr. Raza
Bokhari thanked Dr. Suleiman, other physicians, Pakistani American
community, and all Americans who understand the urgency of the
situation and providing the best help in their capacities. The
Secretary of PAKPAC, Dr. Saud Anwar has urged all people to do more as
the magnitude of this disaster requires a much larger collective
effort at this time.
