June 7th, 2008: The Pakistani-American Public Affairs Committee congratulates Ambassador Husain Haqqani on taking on the oath for
the position of the Ambassador of Pakistan to United States.
Ambassador Haqqani has been working with the Pakistani-American community far before taking on this responsibility. He has been in
the academia and has been educating people on different aspects of Pakistan specific policies. He remains a Professor at Boston
University and Co-Chair of the Hudson Institute's Project on the Future of the Muslim World as well as editor of the journal
‘Current Trends in Islamist Thought' published from Washington DC.
Ambassador Haqqani came to the U.S. in 2002 as a Visiting Scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington
DC and an adjunct Professor at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University. He is a leading
journalist, diplomat, and former advisor to Pakistani Prime ministers. His syndicated column is published in several newspapers in
South Asia and the Middle East, including Oman Tribune, Jang, The Indian Express, Gulf News and The Nation (Pakistan).
At the critical juncture when Pakistan-US relationship needs to be strengthened in multiple ways, this is a very important step.
The President of PAKPAC, Dr. Saud Anwar, congratulated his Excellency Ambassador Haqqani for presenting his credentials to
President of Unites States, President Bush. He mentioned about the importance of Pakistani American community working together and
that it is time for better understanding and coordination of Pakistani-American community members.
