| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 12th, 2008, Indiana: Pakistani American Public affairs Committee congratulate the people of 7th congressional district of the state of Indiana for electing their new Member of Congress, Representative Andre Carson. Congressman Carson was elected by a 11 point margin. With 96% of the vote totaled, Carson has held an 11-point lead over Republican Jon Elrod in the race to fill the vacant seat. President of PAKPAC, Dr. Saud Anwar congratulated Congressman Carson on his success. Mr. Carson’s clear views on issues of concern to the Pakistani American community, immigrant communities and have been of great value to PAKPAC. Dr. Anwar mentioned how the community members and PAKPAC supporters and friends in Indiana had been of great importance in PAKPAC’s decision to be the first organization to officially in words and actions support Mr. Andre Carson. While the first election victory was decisive Congressman Carson will be running again for the Democratic Primary for his district again in May. Dr. Anwar has asked the community members to continue their support for Congressman Carson who is also the second American Muslim to be a Member of Congress in the upcoming important and difficult elections.
