The Pakistani Americans, the American Muslims, the people of Pakistan, thank you and the American people for the generosity shown by them with the $ 50 Million AID package for the people of Pakistan. The helicopters sent by the US government have been instrumental in the search and rescue work and has saved hundreds of lives which could not have been saved otherwise.

As we learn more about this disaster it is clear that its impact is far more than was ever imagined. The people and the resources of Pakistan are truly overwhelmed at this time. This 7.6 magnitude earthquake is believed to be one of the most significant earthquakes that has hit the region. There is an enormous loss in human lives and the sufferings have been astronomical. According to some estimates 40,000 people have died, hundreds of thousand are injured and over 4.5 million are without any shelter. We request you to provide more help in the following ways:

As a resident in your district, i would like to urge you to help the people of Pakistan in the following way:

a) Provide Pakistan with resources for the search and rescue operation. As you know that in a disaster the first few days are the most critical in saving lives. We must provide our unparalleled expertise and technological advances in these golden hours to the victims to reduce the death toll from this. The helicopters that the US has provided have helped numerous lives. There are many more people at risk at this time. We must provide more helicopters for the search and rescue missions.

b) The recovery phase of this disaster would be huge. I urge you to use your influence to maximize the support to Pakistan by USAID in this disaster. USAID's historic commitment to disasters across with world is unequivocal and with 40 years of expertise with disaster assistance, and solid working relationships with the government of Pakistan, this is the time to come through with the very large support that the people of Pakistan need from United States. Ir appears that based on the current ground reality, an AID package of $100 Million would be needed. Please plan to propose a Bill in Congress: South Asia Eathquake Relief Bill to help provide more relief to the victims.

c) The World Bank has been at the forefront in the past to help the reconstruction and relief assistance.
The time has come for the World Back too to step forward and commit and support. Please ask congress to use their influence with World Bank for support.

d) We in the United States must establish a regional core group with Pakistan, Japan, UK, Canada and Australia to help coordinate relief efforts. We should develop a U.S. task force to work with these partners to help coordinate interagency response in our own government and to encourage other nations to participate in the relief efforts.

e) We also ask you to help with the local Pakistani Americans in your district for focused fund raising activities within your district. I would be available to help coordinate this with your office.

This is the time that we as Americans need to show our friends in Pakistan that we are there to help out in our capacities. We must provide them the much needed help at this time.

Sincerely,
