Washington, D.C.
United States Support for the South Asian Earthquake
7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
BACKGROUND AND CONCEPT:
The damage from October 8th, 2005 earthquake is much more and far
above what could have been imagined. Because of a multitude of
reasons, the international support has lacked significantly behind
the acute needs of the people. This imbalance of support and
resources has placed many thousands at risk of imminent death. It is
critical that the community works at different levels to inform,
educate our fellow Americans and law makers of the gravity of this
situation. While all of the community and each and every individual
in each and every organization have joined hands to unite and do
whatever they can in their personal and organizational capacities,
it is very important to also focus in a coordinated way to lobby to
save and build lives that have been affected.
WHO & WHY:
We in our individuals capacities ask all other Pakistani Americans,
Muslims, and other concerned US citizens to join together, not with
an organization, entity, group, focus group, for a united reason as,
but as Pakistani Americans as
ONE single group and VOICE
for a, “Pakistani American Community, Day on the
Hill”
to gather support to help the
victims of this disaster in the current situation and also in the
long term management. We understand that many people in the
community may have varied views on issues in the past, and we will
continue to have healthy discussions in future as well. This however
is the time for all to collaborate and develop a cohesive effective
body, united for a specific focused agenda.
We are interested in passing the
following resolution: (Check Link)
