SPECIAL TASK COMMITTEE
Name Check and Background Check Myth
If you are a name check victim, please register
Solving the background
check web.
It has been very clear
since the post 9/11 with the immigrations and processes that many
of the communities have been affected significantly. It has been
noticed by the Pakistani-Americans that the process of name check,
as well as, their background check has been delaying the legal
visa processes for individuals very significantly.
PAKPAC supports and the
legalized process of immigration, but we also support that the
legalized process or immigration should be equally applied and be
universal to people of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds.
There have been some
concerns that people of certain countries including Pakistan and
people with Muslim faith have had undue delay and very significant
delay in their processes attributed to the name check process.
We understand that the
national security is of paramount importance, but we also believe
that technology, and the communication systems allow us to perform
these processes effectively and efficiently. In times of
uncertainties, and times of misunderstandings, it is critical that
these differential time frames of processes are cleared and
managed in a manner where access is equal. It is required that the
processes, which are involved in solving and dealing with this
name check process, as well as, the background check process
should be made fair and efficient. The delays that have been
reported have ranged from few weeks to almost years for
individuals who are following the rules and laws, and are going
through processes to be able to become US citizens. We feel that
this process needs to be better understood by the community, but
also mechanisms need to be identified to help make it more
efficient and modern, technologically advanced world where such
processes should be taking days rather than years.
This committee requires
support of the different people to join in and help out. If
interested please write to
