Shahid Ahmed Khan
Shahid Ahmed Khan educated in Punjab University and Western
New England College, Springfield Massachusetts, has professionally worked in the pharmaceutical industry. Shahid is a social and
political activist, and has been active for the South Asian affairs at the national level.
He has a proven track record of promoting social and justice causes. He is an ardent believer of increasing participation of the
community in the political process of Pakistani-Americans within the US and Pakistan. He has been active in helping mobilize
communities for social and political change.
Shahid has chaired the Pak Millennium Conference since 1999. This has included leaders and experts from throughout the world,
instrumental in advising the Pakistani Administration about policy and growth, and governance improvement including areas of IT
development, governance and higher education.
He has also served as a vice president of the Pakistani-American Congress and nationwide organization created to foster social and
political action of the Pakistani-American community and organization that has close collaborative association with the
Pakistani-American Pubic Affairs Committee. Shahid was appointed as a commissioner by the governor of Massachusetts for the
Asian-American Commission and has had a central role in advising the governor about South Asian community issues, as well as,
options for solutions. He has been a member of board of trustees of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and also has
served as a national finance co-chair of John Kerry for President Committee acting as a liaison to Muslim Americans and South Asian
American community. He is currently the principal at Tricon Boston Consulting Corporation involved in international development.
In Pakistan, Tricon is involved in building an Academic Medical Center in Islamabad, with the help of Harvard Medical International
a 500-bed teaching hospital with five associated schools including Dental, Pharmacy, Allied Health, Nursing and Medicine. There is
also a possibility of postgraduate medical center with the help of Higher Education Commission Pakistan. The estimated cost of the
project is about thirty million dollars.
Shahid is committed to creating greater and positive understanding of Pakistanis amongst Americans and of America amongst
Pakistanis. He is working on helping build bridges of understanding between societies that give our community an identity.
