Mohammad Suleman
He is a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in Sahiwal, Pakistan where he did his early schooling. He graduated from
King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan in 1972-73 and moved to the United States in 1974.
Dr. Suleman did his internship at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his first year residency in general
surgery from Kings County Hospital also in Brooklyn. He then completed four years of residency in general surgery from Mount Vernon
Hospital in Mount Vernon, New York. He did his fellowship in vascular surgery from New York Medical College Metropolitan Hospital.
After completing his training in surgery, Dr. Suleman moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1981 and started his private practice. He
also worked as a clinical instructor in the departments of surgery at Tulane Medical Center and Louisiana State University Hospital
in the New Orleans.
He has been a member of the American Medical Association since 1975 and a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society and
Jefferson Parish Medical Society since 1981.He has also served on several medical staff committees in local area hospitals. He has
served as the chief of the medical staff at the Kenner Regional Medical Center in Kenner, Louisiana. He also served on the
governing board of the Kenner Regional Medical Center from 2001 to 2007.
He has been actively involved in the King Edward Medical College Alumni Association serving in the capacity of treasurer in 1995,
secretary in 1996, president-elect in 1997, and president in1998.
He was elected to the treasurer position of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America in 1999, secretary in 2000,
president-elect in 2001, and president of APPNA in 2002.
He has served on the board of Pak Pac since 2003 to the present.
He has served his local community on the Jefferson Muslim Association in several key positions and helped build a masjid in the
New Orleans area in 1989. He has served on the board of that masjid since 1989 in different positions.
He served as a delegate to the Louisiana State Medical Society for the past several years.
He also served on the board of the Human Development Foundation from 1997 to 2006.
He was elected as the vice-president of the Jefferson Parish Medical Society this year and has served as the treasurer in 2006 and
secretary in 2007 respectively.
