BILL INTRODUCED TO MAKE PATRIOT ACT
PERMANENT
BACKGROUND:
It is well known to the Pakistani American
and the American Muslim community, how the civil rights of all
Americans have been eroded because of the Patriot Act. Fortunately
PATRIOT ACT has a sunset clause because of which parts of this
controversial law become inactive: On May 21st, 2004 Mr. KYL
(for himself, Mr. MILLER, Mr. CORNYN, Mr. SESSIONS, Mr. CHAMBLISS,
Mr. GRAHAM of South Carolina, Mr. NICKLES, Mr. MCCONNELL, Mr.
INHOFE, and Mr. ROBERTS) introduced S 2476 which if passes would
make the PATRIOT ACT PERMANENT.
ACTION REQUEST:
Please write to your Senators using the
link and urge them to say NO to S 2476. A simple sentence like
the following would be enough to get your point of view across:
Honorable Senator,
The Bill S 2476 by Senator Kyl “To
amend the USA PATRIOT Act to repeal the sunsets” would
lead to giving permanency to PATRIOT ACT. This is the time that
our Country should be working towards repealing parts of the
PATRIOT ACT, rather than repealing the sunset clause of the
Act.
This act has done more harm to the American
values than good. I hope you would represent the views of the
people by saying NO to S 2476
Respectfully,
